Exaton 15W
Exaton 15W is a basic welding flux for submerged arc welding (SAW) that offers good slag removal and a fine bead appearance, suitable for stainless and duplex steels where high impact strength is required.
Key Features
- High basicity for austenitic and duplex stainless steel welding
- Low niobium burn‑off, compatible with stabilized wire electrodes
- Excellent bead appearance and self‑slag release
- Reduces moisture damage with steel drum packaging (20‑25 kg drums)
- Improves productivity and lowers operating costs
Specifications
- Classifications: EN ISO 14174 : S A AF 2
- Approvals: CE EN 13479, UKCA EN 13479
- Welding Current: 1200 A (using 60×0.5 mm strip)
- Slag Type: Fluoride basic CaF₂‑Al₂O₃‑SiO₂
- Density: 1.0 kg/L (nominal)
- Basicity Index: 1.9 (nominal)
- Flux consumption (SAW): 26 V → 0.5 kg, 30 V → 0.6 kg, 34 V → 0.8 kg, 38 V → 1.0 kg
Applications
- Submerged arc welding of stainless and duplex stainless steels in chemical, petrochemical and oil & gas industries
- Suitable for Exaton duplex wire electrodes (e.g., 22.8.3.L/25.10.4.L)
- Can be used with NiCrMo‑3 and NiCrMo‑4 wires for joining and weld overlay
