Exaton 49S
Exaton 49S is a basic, agglomerated flux for electroslag strip surfacing, designed for high‑speed welding of stainless‑steel and nickel alloys. It provides excellent slag removal and bead appearance, even with niobium‑alloyed strip electrodes.
Key Features
- Optimized for high welding speeds with consistent slag removal
- Suitable for chromium, chromium‑nickel, and chromium‑nickel‑molybdenum steel strips, with or without niobium
- High corrosion‑resistant chemistry (increased Cr and Mo content)
- Moisture‑resistant steel drum packaging (20‑25 kg drums)
- Improves productivity by reducing required cladding layers
Specifications
- Classification: EN ISO 14174 : ES A FB 2B
- Welding Current: 2200 A (using 60 × 0.5 mm strip)
- Slag Type: Fluoride basic CaF₂‑Al₂O₃
- Density: nominal 1.0 kg/L
- Basicity Index: nominal 4.4
- Operating Voltage: 25 V
Applications
- Electroslag welding (ESW) and strip surfacing of stainless steel
- Heavy‑duty environments requiring high corrosion resistance
- Projects where reduced number of cladding layers lowers cost
